When things went weird over at a forum that I have participated in for several years – I had to say something.
I said it. Someone else took issue with it by referring to my comments as ‘absurd’. I calmly asked for them to tell me what they found absurd in my comment (which was essentially “If you can’t take the heat, change or get out of the kitchen” but I said it much more kind and much less blunt).
The forum moderators felt it necessary to delete the ‘absurd’ posters comment. I felt it needed to be said that I found their comment anything but offensive and I boldly said that it shouldn’t have been deleted….which means I questioned the moderators. And I got an infraction for it! …whatever man…
Then I found a quote from the ‘absurd’ poster where she was stating the futility of referring to someone’s thoughts as ‘stupid’. She was concerned that it didn’t facilitate courteous discourse. Naturally, I couldn’t just let that go! So I pointed it out. and **BLAM** I was banned from said forum for a few days.
Well, it gets better!! In support of me and absolute shock over the kookiness of it all many of the members there have changed their avatar to MINE. So it appears that I’m still there — only MORE (cue evil laugh).
The icing on the cake is that my dear friends Chloe and Susan demonstrated their support of me and their dismay over the banning. Chloe got banned too (and for longer because she had the guts to say some things that the rest of us were only thinking!!) and Susan’s lovely thread (which never ever questioned the moderators) only talked about my reputation for peace and kindness – BOTH GOT DELETED! Edited to add: Susan’s nice thread about me is re-posted now.
