“Remember spring swaps snow for leaves”

The song Winter Winds by Mumford and Sons is currently lodged in my head and has been replaying since I woke up to the 28 degree temperatures yesterday morning.

That’s right.  Twenty Eight.  May 22nd.   Less than two weeks ago we had a couple of days that hit 90.

I was making mojito’s and enjoying them with my neighbors.

Two. Weeks. Ago.

Yesterday it snowed.

(Picture my stoic expression right about now)

Sure…the snow didn’t stick.  BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT.

Back to Mumford and Sons.

I am taking comfort in the knowledge that I will be seeing them live in exactly four (4) days.

This will actually be the first time I’ve ever gone to see a band that I am truly nutty over.   Not sure what to expect from myself.  HA

But, at the very least, I expect to see more leaves and LESS SNOW from now through October.

I’m speaking it to the universe!

;-)

Dear Internet, It’s not me. It’s you.

You are wasting my life.

You are teaching people (me, included)  how to be openly caustic to one another without the possibility of any consequence for their hasty (and often ill-informed ) words.

You are creating a whole lot of busy-bodies who spend way too much time barfing out opinions  like Pez candies.

You are making it commonplace for me to sit around opining about the choices of other people whose lives are nothing like my own  and  I am supposed to feel comfortable evaluating their motives with abandon.

I do not like who you’ve encouraged me to be.

I’m taking my personal code of ethics back in hand and I refuse to let you pressure me  (or lull me) with the mantra of “everybody’s doing it”.

I don’t care.

I’m done with you!  (Did you hear my foot stamp?!)

Well…  hold on a second.

*clears throat and shifts in seat uncomfortably*

I’m not entirely done with you, sir.

I still have fun blogging and visiting with friends on Facebook Groups I belong to.

I’m just refusing to let you make me feel obligated to fill my days with YOU, Mister Internet.

Okay,   there’s  Pinterest.   You did good there.   Thank you for that.

But seriously.

You cannot control me any more.

Got it?

I’m gonna go back outside and finish turning the old vegetable garden into a shade garden (and photographic evidence will be shared).

I WILL  figure out how to make a string garden.

Tea cakes will be baked!

Life will be lived more fully.

Interested in how I’ve been using my time lately?

I’ve been spending about 5 hours a day in my sewing room.   I love it!

Last Monday’s blog hop was incredibly rewarding.   Reading those posts to our 20-yo selves was moving.   Chloe has a wonderful follow-up that captures perfectly how I was feeling after reading the posts.  Chloe was sweet to even link to my post.
Have you had a chance to read any of the other notes to 20-year-old selves?

Blogging and slogging

I have noted a trend in my life.

By the time early spring rolls around I am in a crafting funk  and cannot seem to find motivation.

This year the blahs have reared their head in the form of a blogging funk.  There is no mustering up the necessary ambition.

So,  here I sit in my jammies, nursing a cold.

I do have an interesting little project in progress.  Once I’m healthy again,  I will post photos.

It is a wall hanging/art quilt  that will hang in the empty spot on my wall of trees  (will explain that when photos are up).

Hope you are keeping healthy and getting revved up for spring.

(fun side note;  since I’m sitting around today, I figured out how to use the wordpress app on my Nook.   I’m writing this post on it now.  woo hoo)

Old Rocking Chair’s got me

I have been enjoying my time away from the computer. Some of it has been spent in my rocking chair working out how to crochet those little flowers. My pattern hasn’t arrived yet, so I’m winging it because I’m impatient.

The yarn (Capra from Knit Picks)is lovely and soft and I can’t wait to wear it.

Currently in progress are these delectable little shortbread cookies. I’ve left out the chocolate because I’m trying to eat less sugar.

(Here are the promised photos of the fabulous cookies).

These are perfect with a strong cup of tea!

They're so pretty!

As for Louis; He came up on my iPod a few times over this past week and I was reminded how much I love him and ‘specially the Old Rocking Chair tune. Eric Clapton has done a cover and though I adore Mr. C. nobody does it like Louis!

Funny little side note. That Rocking Chair tune always leave me humming the opening credits tune from Monster’s Inc.
