A poem I heard and liked…

A Ritual To Read To Each Other

If you don't know the kind of person I am
and I don't know the kind of person you are
a pattern that others made may prevail in the world
and following the wrong god home we may miss our star.

For there is many a small betrayal in the mind,
a shrug that lets the fragile sequence break
sending with shouts the horrible errors of childhood
storming out to play through the broken dyke.

And as elephants parade holding each elephant's tail,
but if one wanders the circus won't find the park,
I call it cruel and maybe the root of all cruelty
to know what occurs but not recognize the fact.

And so I appeal to a voice, to something shadowy,
a remote important region in all who talk:
though we could fool each other, we should consider--
lest the parade of our mutual life get lost in the dark.

For it is important that awake people be awake,
or a breaking line may discourage them back to sleep;
the signals we give--yes or no, or maybe--
should be clear: the darkness around us is deep.

The once-blooming roses are beginning to burst forth! They're
dainty little flowers yet the bushes are enormous. I have the
pleasure of enjoying the company of Agatha Incarnata,
 Fantin Latour and Chloris

I can’t help getting a little chuckle out of the descriptions that
say, “Blooms in mid summer”.  Nope.  I’m sure that may be
the case in certain climates.  Here these are always the
first to start  usually once the weather gets consistently
above 60 for a couple of weeks.  The show lasts for about 3
weeks.  Short but intoxicating.

I put together two little arrangements for the windowsill.

Enjoy.

You have roses and lilacs blooming at the same time?!

Oh. The Poetry. To be known despite the elephant in the room….

And the flowers… well, I'm trying in my climate but the deer ate the Claire Matins so I'm depressed today. Oh bother.

  4. Robin,

    those arrangements are breathtaking!!!

    Seriously.

I am an elephant in a parade….I don't want to get lost in the dark….so, hold my trunk!!! I'll hold your tail….

I wish poetry was easier for me to understand!!!!!!

But what lovely flowers, my dear!!!!!
